We are pleased to accept patients from within our practice area and will only refuse such an application on fair and reasonable grounds. We are unable to accept patient outside of our area due to the large area and patient load we already carry. If an application is refused, we undertake to inform patients in writing, giving our reasons within 14 days. New patients should bring their medical cards to the surgery closest to where they live to register with the practice. All new patients will be given a health questionnaire to complete and we offer a new patient health check within six months of registering with the practice.
There are times that you feel that you simply need to speak to the doctor without coming in for an appointment, for instance you may simply want advice on minor illnesses, or you would like to discuss a test result. In such cases, please ring after midday, which is when the doctor’s morning surgery is likely to finish. Sometimes, the doctor’s morning surgery may overrun, or the doctor is busy with other matters. The receptionists might ask you to call back later on in the day, or pass on a message to the doctor to call you back. If you feel that the matter at hand is urgent, and you need to speak to the doctor immediately, please let the receptionist know about this, and she will put you through to the doctor. The receptionist may ask for a few basic details about the problem, so she could alert the doctor and inform the doctor about the nature of the problem, then put your call through to him or her. Should the doctor be out of the surgery at the time because he or she may be on a home visit, the receptionist will get in touch with him or her on your behalf by mobile phone urgently and the doctor will get back to you.
